Nicodemus (John 3) | Craft 1

This craft is an alternative to the traditional butterfly idea that often accompanies this lesson. It looks at the ridiculousness of Nicodemus’ confusion by putting his head on a babies body. It’s suitable for most children who are capable with a pair of scissors. I would recommend adult supervision for those under 12.

Essential Teachers notes:
Nicodemus is a great story for children who are facing adversity from their friends, but it is much more than just a brief encounter. The beauty of this story is that the confusion does not lead to doubt but belief which we can see later on in scripture. By mentioning those events we place this story into the wider gospel message.

Stories are given for inspiration, do use your own words and details
NB. The downloadable story notes use Sadducee and not Pharisee, apologies

Nicodemus (John 3) | Worksheet

Nicodemus
This worksheet all about Nicodemus is designed for readers, it’s quite a heavy worksheet so it will take some time. It can be completed alone but ideally in is for small groups. There should be a discussion on the idea of being born again – this will probably need adult input.

To complete this worksheet the children need to have already heard the story and have bibles. The bible quote is taken from the NIV translation.

Cain and Abel (Genesis 4) | Craft 2

The story of Cain is of a man whose hands need to transition from working the earth to building a city.

At heart this is an extension activity that can be turned into a creative activity, and independent station activity, or used as a substitute for a worksheet or colouring page.

The download PDF gives the paper version of Cains hands, but the idea can be adapted using real fruit / vegetables and stones, or play food and bricks.
