The king Xerxes is usually depicted with the sceptre that held the fate of Esther, but for this story we concentrate on the reading of the daily report, while they would have probably been scrolls, the idea that long past events can hold truth for the future, as they did for Mordecai, has a beautiful biblical echo to it. this craft takes that a bit further, using the idea of books holding treasure!
Josiah lessons usually have a scroll craft, there are loads of these on-line so I thought I’d do something different! This is a simple craft to prepare for and great for independent learners. The discovery of the scroll of the Law was not something they were looking for, just something that came into their path, but changed everything. This marble maze has only one path – form the star to the scroll – because when we reach the scroll everything changes!
This craft can be done in two ways, one uses drinking straws, the other is a purely paper construction.
The Angelic song that filled the air was bound to be hummed by the shepherds for many years after. This craft concentrates of ways we may try and make the tune ourselves. This page explains how to make a range of simple instruments, you could set up different instruments on each table and have the children chose which one to make, or you could just chose one instrument type and make it as a group. Each instrument is rated , or with 3 being the loudest!
The christmas story has so many various crafts associated with it, and so this craft offering is more specific to just this one part of the story. After a good browse round the internet I found almost no craft project about pregnancy itself, so this craft tries to highlight the idea of pregnancy as a precious time.
The story of Abigail is at essence, a response of a wise woman to a group of hungry men. Normally for make posts i try and come up with a fun craft but this idea has been bouncing around pinterest and i think it fits perfectly with the story.
These have been called blessings bags, or homeless bags. They come with the simple idea that when you see the homeless you give them something little to help. If you live in a city then you may even be able to go out with some of the children and deliver some of these.
Rather than simply put one together myself, which will be specific to my context, I’ve used photographs from other sites. Click on the photo to read their posts.
The story of Abigail contains a donkey, it may not be that first element that comes to mind but this donkey loaded with food is the leader of the food trail that was lead to the feet of David. There is also another reason for including this craft here, Abigail lends itself well to food related activities and yet often food is difficult to work with, this then is a non-food option.
This tutorial is not very detailed, the making of the donkey is simple but the decoration is more up to you and can be tailored to the materials you have on hand. The donkey can obviously be used for many other biblical stories, or it could easily be crafted into a horse.
Jairus’ Daughter is healed because Jesus steps into the picture. This super simple craft illustrates that moment by showing how faith is not just something we have but something we do. Every time we pick up the pencil we are remembering how Jesus gave the little girl his hand and woke her up.
