I received an E-mail from the wonderful Jan who had taken the craft for Nicodemus and made it up for the woman at the well story. Little did I realise how much work she must have done to pull this off, but as requested I made up a version for her too with the full graphics and hero.

This craft is much less restrictive than the Nicodemus one, it has the three scenes, but no words. Instead there is space for you to make your own signs or write on the ground. If you want specific words / Bible verses I would suggest you print them in advance.

This second paper craft linked to Gaius’ lesson is a visual reminder that we leave a legacy with the people we meet. After the pop-up envelopes fiddly construction, this is a bid to make something interactive, but much simpler, for the younger ones.

I’ve provided the template partially coloured so the children can finish colouring or you can print in grey scale. This craft is best done with a touch of preparation beforehand.

This is a really lovely craft to show off to parents and friends at the end of the session, once complete the children seem to walk out with just an envelope, but inside a little pop up scene of Gaius receiving the letter from John appears.

This craft is a little delicate to construct, so not suitable for very young children. I would recommend printing in colour so children can take more time and care in cutting and construction. While the cuts don’t have to be exact, the more accurate the scissor work and folding, the better the card will operate.

Heroes are a popular theme for many sessions, and in a recent lesson we talked about the hero’s of old and how we are the Hero’s of today. As a special treat I made these hero capes for the kids in church to have one each to take home.

For many children’s stories the act of David cutting off Goliath’s head is excluded, but kids cope rather well with, and often downright love, the gruesome. Goliath is the self declared baddie and that his invincibility is cut down to size is rather comical.

This craft could be done with any age and it doesn’t take a lot of preparation beyond a supermarket trip. The biscuits can be hand made or store bought, but they need to have a flat side to work on. Be creative with the decorations, all ingredients can be substitutes, you could even use bread instead or biscuits!

The crux of what happened to Goliath comes down to an encounter with just 2 characters (plus a shield bearer), and so lends itself to being acted out. Acting out stories where boys throw stones, however, may not be the wisest move, so I’ve gone for finger puppets!

These puppets, unlike traditional soft finger puppets, are designed to wear with the head at the opposite end to the finger tip. While this is placed in the Make section it is beast done in small groups with each group making one set of puppets to acts out the story. The Goliath puppet can be made without the legs if you have children under the age of 7.

The story of the crippled woman explores the idea of making the Sabbath a recognisable day. Inspired by the beautiful printable paper chains on allsorts I designed this simple but clear Sabbath linked activity.

The idea behind this craft is simple, you thread 6 busy chains and one contrasting blank chain to represent the day you stop, the Sabbath day.

This is a simple folding craft to create the two pictures of the crippled woman, looking from one side you see her bent over and sad, from the other side you see her happy and standing straight.
