The story of Cain is of a man whose hands need to transition from working the earth to building a city. At heart this is an extension activity that can be turned into a creative activity, and independent station activity, or used as a substitute for a worksheet or colouring page. The download PDF gives the paper version of Cains hands, but the idea can be adapted using real fruit / vegetables and stones, or play food and bricks. |
The purely paper version takes this printout and ask the children to colour the non-marked objects in black, the remaining objects are coloured however the child wishes. When the paper is turned sideways the two hand prints are clear to see. |
An alternative could be made by using play bricks or real pebbles for one hand and hard or plastic fruit and vegetables for the other. This can be done individually or as a large group project. |
If you need a guide then print the hand print PDF and lay it on a table with the various filler objects. Let the children explore how the different things fill the spaces. This is a nice independent activity for younger children. |
